All teaching and learning materials within Language of Belonging have been subject to an Indigenous review and are officially endorsed by Elder Uncle Buck McKenzie, on behalf of the Adnyamathanha community.
Jacquie is a retired school principal with over 40 years of experience in education. She has been involved with aspects of Aboriginal Education throughout her entire professional career and works closely with many Elders.
In education circles, Jacquie is well known for writing and embedding Aboriginal Studies/perspectives into schools’ curricula.

Jacquie is currently producing units of work that are aligned with the Australian Curriculum area of History on the topic of Lake Mungo and also works with ACER on a casual basis.
Sonya is a proud Ngarrendjeri and Narungga woman of South Australia and single mother of three amazing children.
Sonya is currently working in the South Australian Department for Education and Child Development as Aboriginal Community Education Manager, Yorke Mid North Region. She has a B.A. in Aboriginal Affairs Administration and Ass. Dip. in Aboriginal Studies in Music.
Prior to her current position, Sonya worked as an Aboriginal Community Education Officer. While in this position Sonya designed language resources and Narungga language lesson plans for delivery to students aged 5-12 years at Wallaroo Mines Primary School and Moonta Area School. In 1995 Sonya was recognised for her work as a self-employed consultant specialising in cross cultural awareness, by being awarded as the South Australian NAIDOC Businessperson of the Year.
Sonya is also a community radio announcer with local community radio station, 89.3 Gulf FM, producing and presenting a weekly Aboriginal radio program Narungga Wangga. Together with this, Sonya is a singer/songwriter with highlight performances at The Fringe, The Long Walk Women’s Luncheon in Adelaide, State NAIDOC Ball and Family Fun Days.
